  1. How you help

Enhancing the Hospital Enviroment

Charitable Funds have been used to make the Hospital environment more welcoming and comfortable for our patient and their families.

Murals/Wall Art

Feedback from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Visitors Survey complained of a dull clinical space for anxious waiting friends and family. This area now has a British bird theme and there is a Readybed available for loved ones who wish to stay around the clock.

A huge thank you to Carl Ramsay from Cee Spray and Rob from Bobotec Art for giving up their time to create this fantastic Space themed work of art in one of our clinic rooms in our Children’s Resources Centre.

One of the birthing suites now has a distracting tropical feel thanks to donations through the Little Buds Fund. A recent patient commented on the relaxing environment, saying she felt like she was in the Bahamas! The next room to be done has a fitted corner bath for a water birth, and will have a cascading waterfall artwork. Each birthing suite also has a new wall mounted CD player, so women can choose to listen to the radio, play a CD or play their downloaded music to enhance their birthing experience.

Child Friendly Spaces

On Walnut Ward, the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) a sibling room has been kitted out to keep children entertained whilst their parents visit their little brother or sister who is being cared for on the Ward.

New child-friendly seating was introduced into the Children's Resources Centre waiting area, thanks to a donation by Winners Chapel. We are exciting waiting for the wall art to go up too!

Safe Environments

Charitable funds helped create a Maternity Bereavement Room that has allowed staff to take parents into a safe, calm and comfortable space when dealing with a loss.

New furniture was purchased for the Counselling Room used by our Child Psychologist, to encourage her young patients to feel more at ease and comfortable in a less clinical environment.

A Reminiscence Room was introduced onto Ebony Ward with the help of a donation from John Lewis to our Silver Birch Fund to furnish it. The room provides comfort for those with delirium, having been carefully laid out with familiar items from years gone by.

You can help us enhance the Hospital environment for our patients and their families by:

  • making a donation
  • taking part in one of our fundraising events
  • holding your own fundraising event

We are grateful for any contribution - big or small. Thank you.
